What is podcasting?
July 14th, 2005 by gaurav | Filed under .I have been wondering for quite sometime now to find what exactly is podcasting. I decided to search and found few interesting pointers.
According to Wikipedia,
“The word “podcasting” is a portmanteau, coined in February 2004, combining “broadcasting” with the name of Apple Computer’s iPod audio player. However, podcasting is not traditional “broadcasting” at a fixed time, podcasts do not require a portable player or Apple software, and podcasting is not an Apple creation.”
‿Podcasting is a way of publishing files to a website that allows users to subscribe to the site and receive new files as they are posted. Most podcasts are spoken word audio created by individuals, often on a particular theme such as technology or movies. Because new files are downloaded automatically by subscribers, podcasting allows individuals to have a self-published, syndicated radio show.‿
Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated “radio shows”, and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution method.
Mind you videoblogging is also growing in no time there will be TV shows by individuals.

http://mefeedia.com/feeds/ has a good list of videobloggers, it’s the first video aggregator. Kind of like FLickr for video..
