The art of regifting

The art of regiftingEach one of us might be guilty of regifting - giving a gift you received from someone to another person. Is that financially savvy, or is it something else?

That’s the debate under way at http://www.regiftable.com , a new Web site created by Money Management International.

Regifting needs to be done very carefully, otherwise the idea might kickback when you regift something to a person from whom you actually got that gift. That usually happens in festival season. One also needs to take care that the name of the giver has been taken off from the box. Also check the box from inside in case the giver has left his/her business card.

Those who regift usually do it for a reason which could be because the gift cannot be really used at this time as they are already having the same item working in good condition. Sometimes people can find the gift to be absolutely useless for them even in future. One of the reason for regifting can also be money constraints. One gets so many gifts in the festive seaon and might just regift it so as to avoid of not being able to consume. Whatever may be your reason, I don’t find it a bad option if done with proper care. Do send in your comments, if you want to share any special experience related to regifting.

BTW, did you know that two out of three people have either regifted or are considering regifting?
