Man and Technology

I am going to make a very strange comparison here with respect to man and technology that is available to him.

India might be on the way to become software services superpower but we must be bothered about with the way our organisations are being managed especially the Government organisations.

I had applied for a passport for my son which should have delivered to us in 5 weeks time or lesser time but it took 8 weeks and I received the passport today only. The catch is here, that on passport website it is still showing that it is going to be dispatched in a week’s time and the same is being shown since last 7 days. Maybe the passport authorities have different number of days in a week. They have the technology but no one is there to implement it and show the correct information.

Now the next thing that I am talking about is my Tata Indicom bill on which the last date to pay he bill is being shown as 9th July 2007 which is Sunday and all their collections centers are closed on Sunday. The point is Tata which owns the biggest software house in India i.e. TCS cannot make a software which should work in such a manner that it should not accept Sunday as the bill due date. I believe that is not that tough to handle.

The third example that I have is the optimum usage of technology which is being done by Google which can show any kinds of ads in its adsense block whether or not it makes sense or not. The other day I saw an ad which said,”Top Jobs in PDF” . As far as my knowledge in concerned there is no company by the name of PDF, so they have over-optimised the textual sensitvity. Hats off to Google and adsense advertisers.
