GUIs - A walk into the past

Few posts back I had written about Wonders of Technology mentioning how PCs are going to be in future. This one is little different, it takes you back to history and walk down into the past seeing what kind of GUIs were offered in early 1980s and whats available in the market today.

There is website GUIdebookgalley.org which displays the screenshots of all versions of Windows which have been released till date and also the latest offering Vista from Microsoft. It is really worth seeing how the technology has not only made things simple in getting a task accomplished but also GUI has improved so much that it makes working more interesting.

Just imagine working on those dull image less windows using fixed width fonts and now working on colored backgrounds with smooth edges windows and fonts which are a lot more well designed, attractive looks and user friendly.

There is a lot more to be seen on this website apart from old Windows GUIs, do take some time and have a look.
