DMOZ credibility
May 30th, 2005 by gaurav | Filed under .Over the years, inclusion in the DMOZ became increasingly important, especially after Google began using it as the primary database for its directory and also inclusion in dmoz meant that Googlebot will spider your pages rather quickly.
I have submitted my sites to DMOZ number of times but only twice my sites have been accepted and that too after a period of year and so. I had also written to respective editors but there was no reply from them. I had always doubted the integrity of some of the dmoz editors. They always used to take so long to accept / reject a website and sometimes they never did anything. I read in number of forums, complaints that site administrators do not get any response from editors.
Today, I read in an article from SiteProNews which confirms my doubts over the integrity of some of the dmoz editors.
Also an interesting blog - Corrupted DMOZ editor proves that why it is not easy to get into dmoz the way it should be.
It would be better if dmoz starts hiring paid editors and website submission is to be on paid basis only as Yahoo directory does.

No, it proves nothing other than wild ideas can make it into print and be taken as facts when they are fictions.
May be it does not prove it but everything is not definitely clean out there.
