Blogging is serious BUSINESS

Blogging (Weblogs or blogs) started out as a hobby for individuals but it has gone much ahead with the passage of time.

In November, 2004, Jeremy Wright put himself up for auction on eBay as a blogger to rent. Darren followed suit a couple of days later. They offered consulting and three months of blogging services to the highest bidder. The response was remarkable, with stories on CBS MarketWatch, the New York Times and the Washington Post. The breadth and number of the private enquiries were striking as well. Jeremy’s auction ended at US $3350.

The message was clear: the business world wants weblogs, and they want them now. So, they formed InsideBlogging, a blog consultancy. They talk to companies about integrating weblogs into their communications strategy, help them implement the technology and sometimes help them write content for their blogs.

InsideBlogging were able to get their first client in less than one week’s time. They are also in talks with half a dozen more, including 2 Fortune 500 companies.
