Amarnath Yatra begins

June 22nd, 2005 by gaurav | Filed under .

Amarnath YatraThis year Amarnath Yatra has started off yesterday a little early as per the scheduled on July 6 ,05. This early yatra - “service yatra” to the Amarnath cave was kicked off by Jammu and Kashmir Governor S. K. Sinha from Baltal.

As per officials, that those who take part in the yatra till July 6 will be “doing this at their own risk and responsibility” as it is only meant for military and para-military forces besides those erecting tents and “langars.”

The yatra from Pahalgam will start later and no date has been announced till now because of heavy snow on the way.

Four years back when I visited Amarnath caves the only time I went is still so fresh in my memory. It is a very different experience from all the yatras that I have done so far not only because of the distance but the kind of shraddha(faith) people chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ while walking all the way to the cave.

The yatra offered some very beautiful scenes especially Seshnag lake which was such a beautiful view that one could just sit there for hours and keep looking at it and in the background one could see snowclad mountains.

One gets tired walking in all around 40 kilometres (oneway from Pahalgam)which took us little more than 2 days and after having bathe with ice cold water just below the cave, all tiredness just vanished.
