This is simply Awesome !!

What is Sindoor?
Sindoor is a red powder used by married Hindu women. During the marriage ceremony, the groom applies sindoor to the parting of the bride’s hair to show that she is now a married woman. Subsequent sindoor is applied by the wife as part of her dressing routine. Once widowed, a woman is not supposed to wear sindoor.

Eye Exercises for youSince last week or so I have been feeling little bit of itching in my eyes and for few minutes text on the monitor used to become little blurry. Then it again was back to normal after giving my eyes some rest. This made me to search the internet for few exercises and I tried them & found them to be quite useful and thought why not share it with you.

Those people who spend around 8-10 hours everyday in front of computer monitor usually feel similar kind of itching or uneasiness in eyes. So I suggest if you give few minutes everyday for exercising your eyes, it will definitely make you feel more relaxed and would also help in improving productivity.

• Exercise / Tip 1:
This simple exercise relaxes and relieves tension from the optic nerves.
- Open your eyes wide and look up.
- Hold it for 5-10 seconds.
- Close your eyes and squeeze your eyes.
- Hold it for 3-5 seconds.

• Exercise / Tip 2 :
This exercise relaxes the optic nerves and helps improve eyesight.
- Hold your head straight look to your right
- Hold the position for about 5 seconds.
- Repeat the movement looking to your left, looking up, and down.
- Do 4-5 cycles twice a day

• Exercise / Tip 3 :
This exercise lubricates and soothes dry eyes. Improves eyesight.
- Place a tip of your index finger between the eyebrows.
- Looking at the finger tip, slowly move the finger to the tip of your nose without blinking.
- By the time eyes release tears naturally and you feel like blinking.
- Repeat few times.

Adsense & Image placement update

December 19th, 2006 by gaurav | 2 Comments | Filed in , , , , , ,

Referring to one of my earlier posts - Adsense Image Beautifier, a plug-in which added an image adjacent to the ads. Finally Google have come up with a post for Ad and image placement: a policy clarification which states that the publishers should not line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads.

Publishers should also be careful to avoid similar implementations that people could find misleading. Putting up a horizontal or vertical line between the image and ads would not also make that legal. So be careful as Google will be on hunt for those who put adsense ads along with images. I had also installed that plug-in on my blog which have been removed now. I think its good that Google had finally put an end to issue by publicly stating that this stuff is illegal after receiving complaints from advertisers.

Here are some examples provided by Google that wouldn’t comply with the policy :

Appu Ghar may have to go

December 18th, 2006 by gaurav | 6 Comments | Filed in , ,

Appu Ghar, the kids amusement park located opposite to Supreme Court in New Delhi, India may have to go as Urban Development Ministry has allotted about 12 acres of India Trade Promotion Organisation land in the Pragati Maidan area to the Supreme Court.

The only theme park which is centrally located in Delhi includes haunted houses, dragn ride, striking cars , roller coaster rides, Go-Karting, Oysters, a huge water park with lots of huge slides, rivers, lakes, etc.

Appu, was both the cartoon mascot, and a live elephant mascot that became the beloved star of the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India. This amusement park got the name from that Mascot’s name. “Appu” - The Name of the Elephant and “Ghar” means House.

Save Appu Ghar

According to the plan, Supreme Court will have a a new wing, complete with offices, lawyers chambers, auditorium and a library in the the allotted space.
Justifying the need for land, SCBA officials have said, “the amusement park could shift elsewhere, but not the Court.”

Save Appu GharI would ask such officials, do they have a plan, once they occupy this space and in few years time they will require more space then what would be their move? Would they be then destroying any other such place nearby / or taking over another part of Pragati Maidan or move to a new place? This place remains the best hunting ground for young kids to celebrate their birthdays or to enjoy on the last day of the final exams. But from now on kids might have to look for farther places to have fun.

Make your Travel Plans with HotelReservations.com

December 17th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in , , ,

I have been using internet for almost 11 years since it was launched in India way back in 1995. It has evolved with time which made our life much easier and have dramatically effected the way we buy services / products. One of the best things I like to do on internet is to make my travel arrangements and find enough information for the places I would like to visit. I have been making my air / railway / hotel accommodation arrangements before I go for any vacation.

There are lots of websites which provide such kind of services but I recently found one website HotelReservation.com which offers more than 70,000 properties worldwide, airline bookings, car rentals. HotelReservations.com offers the information travelers need to book the perfect trip all backed by the HotelReservations.com Price Guarantee.

I was looking for a return ticket for my Jijaji from Los Angeles to Delhi and found they had some good deals and were offering a combination of American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic at around USD1180 which was the best price I could find after spending few hours on different websites. The other options provided on the site were few and expensive, I wish I could have found an offer preferably on Ashiana Airlines or Cathay Pacific.

Their search interface was quite easy to use and fast enough. They provided some features such as -

- Sorting on Lowest Price; Shortest Flight; Airline; Overall Travel Time
- Provided a guide for cities on which search was made
- View a Map where you can see where the hotels are located

They also provide booking for hotels, cars, vacation rentals, vacation packages. I liked their form for vacation packages where in they provided a form for finding the best deal for making an airline booking + hotel booking + car rentals which really makes it easier for travellers to quick access of all required details from a single view.

They also provide a 24×7 customer support and have a toll free number for US & Canada as well. One thing they could add here is provide a Live Person support which I have found very useful while interacting with some websites. It is really helpful to get support through web interface once you get stuck somewhere rather than giving a call on toll free.

The other thing I liked about this website HotelReservations.com is the Price Guarantee that they offer.

Special Internet Rate hotel reservations booked through Interactive Affiliate Network are guaranteed to be the lowest rate. If there is a lower rate available for the same dates and the same hotel, you must contact us within 24 hours of booking your “Special Internet Rate” reservation. We will either refund you the difference or cancel the reservations without penalty.

If you find this Sponsored Review to be useful, do give HotelReservations.com a try before you close your travel plans.
