Google toolbar in Hindi

Google Toolbar in Hindi On the way to office today, I heard on FM that Google has lauched its Toolbar for IE in Hindi. As soon as I reached office I searched for it and found lots of results having the same content which says something like this :

Google has announced the availability of its Toolbar 4 for Internet Explorer in Hindi. This new version of Google Toolbar is customisable, with new features to personalise the search experience and browse content more efficiently. Users can now customize their search experience in Hindi with the latest version of Google Toolbar. The Hindi Toolbar is complete with online bookmarks, enhanced search features and new sharing capabilities all in Hindi.

It also enables the users to create, label and manage bookmarks for their favourite sites with a single click. Bookmarks are now saved to the user’s Google account, making them accessible from any computer. For example, if a user bookmarks a news article at work that he wants to read later, he can access it from the home computer by logging in to his Google account.
Additional product enhancements include an expanded search functionality that offers users instant search query suggestions. Enhanced sharing capabilities allow users to easily send and share web page content via Gmail by selecting the section of page they want to share and clicking the new “send to” button.

Google Toolbar in HindiNone of those news sites or tech blogs even had a word on how it should be used and how to configure it. None of them even had a screenshot of the toolbar showing an alphabet or hindi word in the toolbar. I tried to furiously find information about Hindi toolbar on Google’s toolbar but was unable to find much of it. It also did not have Hindi listed in language selection(see pic on left).

It has become a common practice these days whatever Google launches, it gets lot of initial publicity without being put in to use by those publicizing their product or feature launch.

Basically what this newer version allows is to search for hindi words on Google search engine as shown in pic above. It also enables to put buttons on toolbar such as English to Hindi Dictionary ; Writeka Hindi Search which can be found here.

The art of regifting

The art of regiftingEach one of us might be guilty of regifting - giving a gift you received from someone to another person. Is that financially savvy, or is it something else?

That’s the debate under way at http://www.regiftable.com , a new Web site created by Money Management International.

Regifting needs to be done very carefully, otherwise the idea might kickback when you regift something to a person from whom you actually got that gift. That usually happens in festival season. One also needs to take care that the name of the giver has been taken off from the box. Also check the box from inside in case the giver has left his/her business card.

Those who regift usually do it for a reason which could be because the gift cannot be really used at this time as they are already having the same item working in good condition. Sometimes people can find the gift to be absolutely useless for them even in future. One of the reason for regifting can also be money constraints. One gets so many gifts in the festive seaon and might just regift it so as to avoid of not being able to consume. Whatever may be your reason, I don’t find it a bad option if done with proper care. Do send in your comments, if you want to share any special experience related to regifting.

BTW, did you know that two out of three people have either regifted or are considering regifting?

Google Earth in 4D

Google Earth in 4D by Garett Rogers — Google skipped right past the third dimension and landed directly in the fourth (time) by offering historical maps on Google Earth. Now you can travel back in time — for example, I am looking at the globe of 1790. Don’t expect detailed high resolution photography from days gone by, but it’s still interesting to see.
