Their merchant list is still very short but with time they will grow and seems a good option to me as it is available for free now. They have merchants from various cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Secunderabad, Thane.

Read their FAQs before your sign up with them. As per their FAQs the card is free for now as a introductory but will be available on paid basis later.

Google has come up with a list of some hip hop add-ons which they call as Gadgets that are mini-applications that work with the Google homepage, Google Desktop or any page on the web. By simply copy and pasting a code on your website or blog, you could have a clock, hangman game, quotes, maps, calculator and so on. They currently list around 1500 gadgets which are not really developed by Google. Most of them are developed by some third parties, they are just listing them under Google gadgets sections.

Working with Big Cos V/s Midsize Cos

October 17th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in

Few days back I met a guy who was working with a midsize IT company. During our conversation he told me that started his career with TCS and then moved on IBM and now to this midsize IT company. I was quite surprised to find out the transition having worked for such big names he was currently working for a company much smaller as compared to his previous employers.

Being intrigued by his decision for having left those companies I asked him what was his reason for moving and then joining a smaller organisation. He told me the two primary reasons that he moved, i) the bigger organisations can afford more people at bench & hence they always have more people than actually required. Therefore at times they were just required to sit idle and wait for a project being allotted to them. ii) the bigger organisations took a lot of time doing small things as many a times such companies have some functions centralised and that takes lot of time and things moves at slow pace.

He also told me that current company that he is working with has good projects and gives him a chance to add to his skills. All his reasons to work in a smaller firm seemed fair to me, I think there is a tremendous change in perceptions of people that does not drive them mad about bigger names but more common sense prevails now to achieve your career objective.

Air Deccan offering 3lacs tickets starting Rs.6

October 11th, 2006 by gaurav | 1 Comment | Filed in ,

Air Deccan is offering 3 lacs tickets starting Rs.6 + taxes per person for travel between 30th October 2006 and March 2007. This offer is being made at the time when Air Deccan only last month declared a loss of Rs.340 crore for the 15-month period ending June 30, 2006.

Indian aviation industry has seen launch of many airlines in recent past that has triggered a price war and without any doubts few players will go down and few will survive it. Lets see if Air Deccan the pioneers of no-frill, low cost airlines can survive this period.
