104 Fever FM launched in Delhi

October 30th, 2006 by gaurav | 90 Comments | Filed in , ,

Another FM station/ channel - 104 Fever FM launched in Delhi but this time its going to be a little different. This is the first niche radio station playing pure English music, thanks to the tie-up between HT Music and Virgin Radio. HT Music, a group company of the Hindustan Times Group acquired licenses to operate radio stations in the four metros, started technical transmission of its station in Delhi on 104 FM sometime back but today i.e. 30th Oct 2006 the FM station has been officially launched with the HT’s front page being covered by launch ad supplement page.

Delhi recently had three new additions in the private FM station space – Mid-Day promoted Radio One, Gautam Radia’s Hit FM and Adlabs Radio promoted Big FM. With so many FM stations hitting the airwaves, it’s not only a boon for the Delhi’s music lovers, but also a test of their memory powers remembering all those frequencies!

October 29th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in , , ,

Since the time I started blogging, it has proved to be an effective way of expressing my thoughts, it has helped me making some friends in a cyber world at distant places, it also made me travel to Chennai to attend BlogCamp which connected me the bloggers in real, it given me a new dimension in life as I try to see and analyse everything from a different perspective and try to put forward my point of view on those little things that I share with my readers.

The latest thing that I got out of blogging is little fame when my name and blog got featured in Bloggers Park, The Economic Times, it feels nice to have your name published in the newspaper of repute. It would have been nice if my got a hyperlinked but still I got a decent number of hits from it. It also got published in Indiatimes infotech section. The article is also available in epaper edition of ET from were I got this clipping.

Poor Customer service in India has become a norm

October 29th, 2006 by gaurav | 2 Comments | Filed in , ,

The telephone at my residence was giving a lot of trouble since last 15 days and after having registered a complaint with the service provider and unable to get any response from them I finally had to write them quite a harsh letter which finally worked and my problem was sorted within 24 hours. I have pasted below the contents of the letter that I wrote to them, in case anyone faces a similar problem or if you have some suggestions to add please put them in comments for getting a faster response from such companies.

Dear Sir/ Ma’am

This is in reference to my complaint no. xxxxxxxx for telephone no. xxxxxxxx lodged since 13th Oct 2006. The complaint has not been attended after giving so many calls to customer care.

The complaint that I have lodged is that the adaptor of the phone is not charging the battery for an unknown reason and because of this my phone is not working since that day. This is not only causing trouble to me as I am not able to call anyone nor people who have my number are not able to get in touch with me and my family numbers. I have been reassured at different times by customer care staff that my complaint will be attended in 1-2 days time whenever I give them a call and there has been no action at all, not even a call from their end to let me know the status why the complaint has not been attended.

My purpose of writing to is that to make you aware the resulting loss of revenue to xxxxxxxx Co.. as well, as my phone bill that comes around Rs. 2500 - Rs. 3000 per month , so in the last 15 days you have lost a business of around Rs.1250. If you are ready to bear further losses from our end you are most welcome to continue in such a fashion.

Apart from monetary losses this will also lead to a loss of reputation to your company as I have my number circuclated to say around 200-250 people and when they are unable to reach me , they will contact me on mobile but from me they will come to know about your bad service and that my complaint not being attended.

This is to finally warn you that if my complaint is not being attended in next 24 hours (or by the end of 27th Oct 2006), I would have left with no option but to file a complaint against you in Consumer Court for undue harrassment that has been caused to me by your company. I would also ask you to give me rental reimbursement for the period since my complaint has been lodged till the time you take further to get my phone in working condition.

Thanks & Regards

At this time, when India is witnessing a revolution in consumer sevices but the companies are unable to cope for the need of having a good relation with customers and every now and then customers have to bear the wrath of poor customer service. I guess the time will come when the market becomes saturated when these companies will have nothing but to win customers on the basis of their service.

Perception of Beauty

October 27th, 2006 by gaurav | 1 Comment | Filed in ,

This video is from Dove who launched their Campaign for Beauty and the Dove Self Esteem Fund. Saying that “too many girls develop low self-esteem from hang-ups about looks and, consequently, fail to reach their full potential in later life. So, we’ve created the Dove Self-Esteem Fund as an agent of change to educate and inspire girls on a wider definition of beauty.”

This is beautifully shot and shows how make-up experts and technology can make a simple face look stunning. I really hope Dove manages to inspire girls on subject of beauty by such videos as these days you find every young girl start dieting, apply non sense stuff just to look good which ultimately makes them look silly because of malnutrition and using chemical based creams and other stuff.

Google launches Co-op search engine

October 25th, 2006 by gaurav | 2 Comments | Filed in , , ,

Google has added a new service - Google Co-op to their ever-increasing list of services which lets an individual create own search engine. It allows you to place a search box and display search results on your website in your own design and simultaneously use Adsense along search results to make money from the resulting traffic.

The best thing about the whole concept is that it lets you specify or prioritize the websites you want to include in searches. One can invite friends to contribute and build a search engine for your community.
