Yeah, its true - its not going to be cola war this season. Its going to be a Radio War this winter. In last 2 weeks Delhi has seen launch of two new FM channels - RadioOne 94.3 started earlier this month and ADAG’s Big Fm 92.7 launched yesterday. Despite 4 FM majors already in there, Delhi’s thirst for songs/call in programs/traffic reports and listening to RJs in not going any less.
Radio One has divided its day’s programming based on different time slots. The station will play songs according to the mood which listeners are in that time slot. For instance, breakfast drive will play songs with a high energy level; late mornings it will target housewives and hence play a mix of popular numbers along with old songs. The late afternoon slot is targeted at college-going students. The late evening slot will play soft and soothing numbers for listeners to retire for the day. The late night retro slot, as the name suggests, will play all old songs. The graveyard shift will make the listener call it a day with gentle music.
The competetion is hotting up and time will soon come who can provide the listeners with great music and little lesser of RJs and very boring repetetive ads.
Big 92.7 FM will be introducing lot of interactive features with the specific aim of building a community of cell phone users hooked in to the radio station.
