Continuing from my earlier post of Delhi - Agra trip.
This post (Part II) covers the second half of our Delhi - Agra trip. We left Fatehpur Sikri at around 3:30 p.m. and thought would stop in between for a quick meal. After about 30 minutes of drive on the highway we stopped in front of a restauarant to have lunch and before getting out of the vehicle asked a guy till what time Taj is open and he told us you have to be there by five.

We decided against us having lunch there and thought it would be better if we see the Taj Mahal first and have a meal once we are through with it. After reaching at the Taj Mahal, we were followed by all kinds of touts, guides, rickshaw drivers to tender their services. There is a quite a bit of distance to cover where private cars/taxis park to reach Taj, from thereon you either need to go walking yourself or hire an auto-rikshaw. There are two ways to go from their, if you want to go walking then must ensure that you are going by the shorter route, the other way is little longer which is generally used by auto-rickshaws.
We took an auto-rickshaw(charged Rs. 50 for 7 adults) from there and reached there at around 5 p.m. We got the tickets(Rs. 20 per ticket) and as were about to stand in a queue, a guide approached us saying that he could get us in bypassing the queue (if we hire him for his services). He tried his best as there was quite a long queue, his contacts did not work. So we kept stranded in a queue for about half an hour before got in the complex of Taj.

Walking in from gate, the top of the taj became a little visible and as we moved further you could see the Taj Mahal from the doorway of gate(see pic above). We clicked several photos in front of the Taj and decided to move towards the main Taj corridor. Taj looks absolutely wonderful from every angle and as you main fort, one just seem to keep looking at fine work that has been done on the walls.

We went inside the gate (pic below) but it was quite suffocating because of the humid climate as well for the crowd that was already inside. We quickly moved and went towards that part of the corridor from where Yamuna river just looked amazing. After spending around an hour or so we moved out of that architecture thattook more than 20 years and most of the treasury of Shah Jehan to finish it. Today, it stands as the ultimate monument to love, and an homage to Mumtaj Mahal’s beauty and life.

Just as we moved out of the Taj Complex, a little further down the road we spotted Pizza Hut and decided to have a quick meal before we drove back to Delhi. The meal which intended to a short one took more than an hour as it was quite enjoyable out there not just because of the food stuff but also for the dance numbers on which the PH’s staff performed, also the little games room the had for the kids was quite an attraction to spend a little more time than one would normally do. That was an end to a wonderful day when we reached back home at around 12: 30 a.m.
