Watched Fanna

May 30th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in ,

I came back from office and as I switched on the TV , I was surprised to see that Fanaa was being shown on cable and it was only few days that it had been released. I started watching the film it was only 10 minutes or so I had not missed much.

Fanaa

It was quite refreshing & Delhi was shown beautyfully. Aamir & kajol were looking good considering Kajol is making a comeback of sorts. I espcially liked the shayari and picturisation of the songs. First half was cool and I really enjoyed it. After the interval there was so much has changed that you don’t feel that you are watching the same movie and it did maintain the same momentum that kept me seated for first half. It was getting difficult to go throug the second half as it went on and finally I switched off and thought that its not worth watching from here on.

Volkswagen’s new Car Experience

May 22nd, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in

The 2 photos above were taken at Volkswagen’s new storage facility in Wolfsburg, Germany. The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US. Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also “retrieved” in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant. Collecting your new car is an event in itself. “In a fully automated procedure, your new car is brought down to you from one of the 20-story Car Towers. Large signboards in the Customer Center show you when your turn has come. Then, you’re handed the keys, your picture is taken, the glass doors open and your brand-new car appears. You’re all set to go”.

The Husband Store!

May 17th, 2006 by gaurav | 1 Comment | Filed in

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!

There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch. … You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building! So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. .

On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.

The second floor sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking.

“Wow,” she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead good looking and help with the housework.

“Oh, mercy me!” she exclaims, “I can hardly stand it!”

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Webcam - Review

May 13th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in

I recently bought a webcam from Ashok Vihar* having a resolution of 300k pixels which is supposedly quite good for a 320 x 240 output. When I installed it on my computer system I found that it was not upto the quality that I was expecting.

As I had bought it so I kept using it and in around 2 weeks time I found that its quality has further deteriorated and I decided to return the product or get a replacement.

The vendor from where I bought this webcam told me that this company is having a service center in the next building and I went there to get it serviced, the guy available there told me to wait for 5 minutes and within 2 minutes of my handing over the webcam he calls me that the webcam is absolutely working fine its just that the lens on the cam has become out of focus and was not giving the best output, he adjusted it and wow it was giving a wonderful picture now.

It was a matter of small adjustment that it started working fine. So if you face a similar situation just tweak the lens just a little bit and you are ready for great output.

*Wazirpur Comm. Complex(Ashok Vihar) in recent times has developed as good market for getting assembled PCs and branded as well

Classified Ad did the job - Laptop sold

May 8th, 2006 by gaurav | No Comments | Filed in

As per one my earlier posts regarding placing the ad for selling my laptop on delhi.kijiji.in. I got a good enough response from it. I also posted the same ad on rediff classifieds which was being offered FREE for 13 weeks. Response from rediff was good too but it was mostly from outside India.

I would like to mention here that though the response was good from outside. I never wanted to sell it outside Delhi & NCR region as sending outside meant a lot of risk. I got little suspicious when lot of mails were from people telling that they are from UK and they want to get it delivered to Nigeria or some other country in Africa on one pretext or the other. Guys beware of any online business transaction if Nigeria is mentioned. If you have any experience do let me know.

Finally I managed to sell the laptop to a guy who also works in Gurgaon with an IT company, he came to place and saw the laptop and he really liked the piece and after a week or so I delivered it to him in Gurgaon.
